The Amazon forest is on Fire

The Amazon rainforest is widely regarded as the "lungs of thethe planet" spanning1.7 billion acres. It plays a major role in regulating the earth's climate and is thought to provide 20% of the worlds oxygen.But what is happening in Amazon now and who are to blame? According to Christian Poiries, the programme director of the non-profit organization Amazon Watch, told CNN that "the vast majority of these fines are human-lit, and when this outbreak started the fire have increased with more than 9,500 inferos since August 15, according to National Institute for Space Research.NASA also stated that these fines are so big that they can be seen from space .

Gina Lopez dies at 65

We lost a lover of life, Regina Paz "Gina" La'O Lopez, former Environmentalist and Philanthropist who served as secretary of the Philippines Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR ). Gina Lopez died because of multiple organ failure related to the disease at Makati Medical Center on August 19, 219 at the age of 65. A ccording to Rappler, Gina had been battling brain cancer in recent months, though her official cause of death was multiple organ failure.  She was also known as the daughter of ABS-CBN Chairman. She also served as the chairperson of ABS-CBN foundation chairman. When she was the chairperson of ABS-CBNABS-CBN's Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, she established Bantay Bata 163, the country's first media-base hotline to protect disadvantage and at risk children.
